Essay requirements:

• Your essay must be at least 1200 words and no more than 1,500 words. MLA FORMAT
• The commentary essay must have a thesis statement.COVER PAGE AND REFERENCE PAGE DO NOT COUNT AS PAGE REQUIREMENT BUT MUST BE INCLUDED.

Research Requirements:

• In-text citations and a Works Cited page are required for this assignment.
• Synthesis and integration of direct quotes, paraphrases, and summarized material are required. Instead of a Frankenpaper of stitched together articles, your voice will remain front and center and in control of the research you use to develop the essay. Use the research to support your writing, not to replace your voice. Carefully thinking through the work you do on the annotated bibliography and research proposal will be invaluable for this.
• You must integrate at least four outside sources into the essay. You cannot use more than 5 outside resources. (If you have questions about needing more than 5 resources, please reach out to me and we can discuss.)
• Sources can include books, professional journal articles, pamphlets from organizations, internet sites, interviews.
• Do NOT use general encyclopedias or dictionaries. Do NOT use Wikipedia.
