Preparing a Cross-Country Flight

Describe some of the tricks/steps you have learned and use when preparing for a cross-country flight.

Describe how one might verify that your proposed solution/approach is successful and/or what other research may be needed moving forward.

Research Paper

In this course, you will complete a research paper in which you will employ the information covered in this course (as appropriate) to analyze, evaluate, and create a solution(s) to an existing or future aviation human factors challenge or problem. Be sure this challenge or problem is significant and meaningful to society. Also, the topic must be rooted in the literature—meaning it must be an aviation safety-related issue as covered in a published research or review article.

In your introduction, describe the challenge/problem and why it is significant; use data and/or examples to make your point. Since the issue must be rooted in the literature, be sure to identify the journal article or published research/review article where the source for your idea originated for you.

In the body of your paper, review the history of this problem, how it may have changed over time, and why. Use data/stats or examples to illustrate and justify your opinions. Then, explain how concepts related to the study of human factors can be employed to help address this challenge/problem. Has this potential solution been used successfully before? If so, explain.

Finally, describe how one might verify that your proposed solution/approach is successful and/or what other research may be needed moving forward.

Write a critical analysis paper on a topic (electronic flight bags). Research that topic to a profound extent and then write an academic critical review/analysis paper about it.

Electronic Flight Bags

You must read it and follow the instructions as is for the format. I have also attached the paper instructions on how it should be written.

Assignment Description:

Write a critical analysis paper on a topic (electronic flight bags)

Research that topic to a profound extent and then write an academic critical review/analysis paper about it. Make sure you know how to cite APA 7 style and know the rules – you will be marked on it.

Ensure that you follow the layout precisely as detailed in the marking rubric and the written assignment instructions pdf.

Use a search engine to locate three different specific payloads models. Pick out payloads that you personally find interesting.

Drones – Payloads and Sensors

This week we learned about the difference between payloads and sensors, and how to choose the right sensor for the right mission. This is an important aspect to consider before any Drone mission, and can be the factor that determines a team’s success or failure. For that reason, it is important to have a firm understanding of how choosing a payload can work for or against you.

Your assignment is to use a search engine to locate three different specific payloads models. They can be the same type (such as all infrared) or they can be different types- pick out payloads that you personally find interesting. At minimum, your assignment should include the following: A description of the use cases of each payload, a brief history on the company that produced the payload (common products, number of years in business, target consumer, etc) and a data table including any important statistics for the payload (X).

The content of your assignment must be at least 500 words, not including any headings or citations. An abstract is not required. A minimum of 2 outside sources are required for this assignment. Outside materials refer to sources that are not provided to you through this course. Any references to materials from this course should still be properly referenced and cited.

All assignments should be submitted in proper APA format, including citations.

Why were these programs started? What did they hope to achieve? Analyze the benefits of both direct observation of aircrew (LOSA) and anonymous self-reporting systems(ASAP/ASRS).

Aviation Safety Programs

There are three programs:
(i) Line Operations Safety Assessments (LOSA)
(ii) Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP)
(iii) Aviation Safety Reporting System (ASRS)

Assess the impact programs such as LOSA, ASAP, and ASRS have had on aviation safety. In your discussion, you must include the following elements:

1- Why were these programs started?
2- What did they hope to achieve?
3- Analyze the benefits of both direct observation of aircrew (LOSA) and anonymous self-reporting systems(ASAP/ASRS).
4- Determine if there are any potential negative aspects of such programs.
5- Why participation was slow to catch on in some segments of aviation?
6- How do these programs relate to airline CRM programs?

Choose any airline to research, and explain which stage of the product life cycle you believe the airline is experiencing and why.

Aviation

Choose any airline to research, and explain which stage (new, growing, mature or decline) of the product life cycle you believe the airline is experiencing and why (minimum of 3 well written paragraphs).

Draw a diagram that explains CNr on a Piper Cherokee below. Show the change in angle of attack on the appropriate surface due to a yaw rate. Make sure to include a drawing of the CG, your direction for r, the local angle of attack due to r, direction of the additional lift and the direction of the resulting moment.

Aerospace Engineering

1) Show, by a drawling below, how a v velocity on the following airplane can become a u. What angular rate would need to be present (indicate variable and sign)? Show 2 frames of the motion.

2) Show, by a drawling below, how a w velocity on the following airplane can become a What angular rate would need to be present (indicate variable and sign)?

3) Sketch on the following airplane an explanation for dihedral effect due to wing placement on the fuselage (indicate the wind direction, the net rolling moment and appropriate streamlines).

  • w

4) Sketch on the following airplane an explanation for dihedral effect due to dihedral angle of the wings (and only dihedral angle of the wings) on the fuselage (indicate the wind direction, the net rolling moment, a cross section of the flow on airfoil of both the left and right wings and appropriate streamlines).

5) Draw a diagram that explains the change in angle of attack on the canard on the canard due to a pitch rate, q. Show how CMq will change. Make sure to include a drawing of the CG, freestream, pitch rate direction, the induced flow on the canard, the induced angles on the canard and the resulting forces and moments.

6) Show the derivation of glide ratio on the following diagram. Make sure to include the relative wind and the proper vectors for lift and drag. Indicate all angles that are perpendicular and those that are the same value.

7) A tailwheel airplane is making a right 180-degree turn on the ground. Show an approximate time history of the rudder pedal deflection required to do this. Absolute values are unimportant. The correct sign and relative values are critical.

8) An airplane is taking off in a crosswind. Just prior to lift off, the fuselage is aligned with the centerline and there is a balance of forces into and away from the wind as seen in the top view below: Sketch the rear view of the aircraft with the appropriate into and away from the wind forces. Label each force. And, if associated with a stability derivative, indicate which derivative. Assume that the normal force on the tire is low and the tires are unable to produce into the wind and way from the wind forces.

9) On this rear view of an aircraft, draw the proper deflection of the ailerons to produce a positive rolling moment. Draw a depiction of the lift distribution on the wing showing the positive rolling moment.

10) Draw a diagram that explains CNr on a Piper Cherokee below. Show the change in angle of attack on the appropriate surface due to a yaw rate. Make sure to include a drawing of the CG, your direction for r, the local angle of attack due to r, direction of the additional lift and the direction of the resulting moment.

11) Draw a diagram that explains CN on a Piper Cherokee below. Show the change in angle of attack on the appropriate surface due to a sideslip. Make sure to include a drawing of the CG, your direction for sideslip, the direction of the additional lift and the direction of the resulting moment.
