Write a report that describes and analyses these data, discussing the likely processes producing the data and any implications for management and/or further study.

Perform quantitative analyses on a dataset of your choice from the broad environmental sciences (aquatic, atmosphere, terrestrial, marine, urban, etc.)
Use two fundamentally different kinds of quantitative analyses, at least one of which should have been covered in the module (i.e. at least one of: inferential statistics, correlation/regression, time-series analysis). The two types of analysis should be comprehensive and utilise full range of opportunities provided by the data. Write a report that describes and analyses these data, discussing the likely processes producing the data and any implications for management and/or further study.

/- Note that visual presentation of your data or time-series plotting does NOT count as quantitative analysis.

/- Note that, for example, a simple KS-test that can be achieved with one button in SPSS or one line-command in R does NOT qualify as comprehensive.

Assessment 1: individual essay, 2500 words

The essay should focus on ONE of the ‘4As’ defined in weeks four and five*. It should:

1) provide some context to explain the industry structure (e.g. influence of international bodies such at the UNWTO; national structures and relevant policy; relevant private sector influences such as vertical integration), and
2) evaluate the demand for this sector in detail.

Students are asked not to discuss all four ‘As’ listed below* and to ensure they focus on only one. This will especially focus on learning outcomes 1 and 2.

* Accommodation, attractions, ancillary services (including access) OR amenities

Write a 500 word (two pages double spaced) reflection paper relating Hartshorne’s Functional Approach to the current state of American politics to include the rise of white nationalist/supremacist.

Hartshorne’s Functional Approach and Current American Politics

One of the things we will study in Political Geography is Steven Hartshorne’s Functional Approach. Hartshorne’s Functional Approach is elegantly simple. First, countries must have a reason for being. Second for a country to stay together as a country centripetal forces that bring the citizens together must outweigh centrifugal forces which tear the people apart.

You will then watch a PBS Frontline episode entitled Documenting Hate: New American Nazis which you can stream at

Explain how you will evaluate the planning legislative or regulatory process in solving the issue in the watershed you have selected.

Description

Your Assignment 2 is the Course Paper Proposal that contributes 10% of your final grade in this course.

You will need to select a watershed that you are familiar with or have some reason to want to investigate. Identify a water related issue such as water quality, water supply, different land uses that cause problems for the water resources in the watershed, ecological concerns (aquatic habitat loss, invasive aquatic species, accumulation of toxic materials in the food chain etc.). Then, identify a legislative, regulatory, or management document that deals or should deal with the issue you have selected. You must also provide a point form outline (table of contents) for your paper and provide five references that you have read in developing the proposal and will use in the development of the course paper.

Some tips for the proposal: You are expected to clearly identify the watershed, the water related issue and the management document/legislation and regulations that you have selected. In 2 paragraphs, describe them and how they respond to the issue. Explain how you will evaluate the planning legislative or regulatory process in solving the issue in the watershed you have selected. For the full course paper you must embed your evaluation in relevant theory, research findings and personal reflections so it is good to outline these in your proposal as well.

*Grading Your Proposal
Your proposal will be graded based on:

The appropriateness of your identification of the issue and the management document that you have chosen as responding to the issue.
The clarity of your description of the watershed and the issue:
The logical linkages of your point form outline (table of contents)
The appropriateness of the sources that you have identified for your paper.

Identify the key external factors that influence specific behaviors.

Thank you for your help. This paper has to be at least 1000 words, hopefully, 3 pages are enough. I’d like an in-text citation, please. Here are a couple of things I’d like the paper to be focused on. Maybe bring up Urie Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory and Sigmund Freud Psychodynamic Theory.
1. To examine how a child’s upbringing affects their psychological development.
2. To identify the key external factors that influence specific behaviors.
3.To examine how a child’s economic background, as well as their neighborhood/living situation, affects their development.
Again thank you for your help.

Compare the rates of sea level rise obtained for your sites in Virginia and those from Washington DC to those other sites on the east coast.

Instructions on creating tidal plots

1. Visit https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/

2. In the Search bar on the left side of the screen, type in the Galveston, TX ID 8771450 and select the Galveston Pier 21 option.

3. Click on the top bar “More Data” and select Tide Predictions. This will open up a new browser from NOAA.

4. Change the date in the bottom from October 17, 2020 to October 17, 2020. Keep all other options the same.

5. Click the blue Plot Daily button to update the plot.

6. At the top right of the chart, click on the three vertical lines and select an option to download the plot. Paste an image of the chart into your Lab Handout.

7. Now change the date to Oct. 1, 2020 to Oct. 31, 2020 and click the blue Plot Daily to update the plot. Save and past the image into your Lab Handout.

8. Repeat for Boston (8443970) and San Francisco (9414290).Use the short-term (72 hour plots) that you just made to answer the following questions (on your Lab Handout):

1. What is the range (vertical distance) between high and low tides at each location? Is it always the same? (3 pts)

2. Do high and low tides occur at the same time each day? If not, by how much do the times change each day? (2 pts)

3. What is the tidal period (time between successive high tides or between successive low tides)? (1 pt)Use the long term (one-month) records you just made to answer the following questions (on your lab handout):

4. What happens to the tidal range over this longer period at each site? (3pts)

5. Is there a regular cycle to these changes – if so what is the period of these changes? (2 pts)

6. What process might be responsible for these longer term changes in the tides? (3 pts)
PART 2. Comparing local tidal trends with sea level trendsVisit the NOAA tide gauge stations at the following address: http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/tide_predictions.shtml. Navigate to Virginia link to explore the present tidal conditions and the Sea Level Trends link for historical tidal records for Colonial Beach, Lewisetta, and Sewell’s Point. Use this data to answer the following questions (please fill in the table):1) What is the tidal range for each station (difference in height from low to high tide)? (1/2 pt each)2) What are the mean sea level trends recorded for these tidal stations? (At the bottom of the page you will see a link that will take you to Sea Level Trends. Click here and then on U.S. Stations.) (1/2 pt each)Tide StationTidal RangeMean Sea Level TrendsColonial BeachLewisettaHampton Roads (Sewell’s Point)
3) Visit the NOAA Sea Level Trends site at the following address: http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/sltrends/sltrends.shtml. Investigate the sea level trends for our Atlantic coast and answer the following questions (Note, just Zoom around on the map to the appropriate city and click on the arrow to see the sea level trends) : What are the rates of sea level rise for Portland ME, Boston MA, Washington DC, Wilmington NC, and Miami Beach FL? What is the overall range and average rate for all of the sites? Why do you think there so much variability in the data? (1/2 pt each)CitiesSea Level RisePortland, MEBoston, MAWashington D.C.Wilmington, NCMiami Beach , FLTotal Range of Sea Level Rise of all cities: Average of Sea Level Rise of all cities:
4) Compare the rates of sea level rise obtained for your sites in Virginia and those from Washington DC to those other sites on the east coast. Are the rates of rates of sea level rise in the Chesapeake Bay higher or lower? What factors might be contributing to the apparent disparity in the data? We haven’t specifically talked about this so you should do a little research into factors that affect both global, regional and local changes in sea level. Hint – it is complicated! (6 points)
***###you dont need to write a report or anything ,all you ave to do is answer the question and that’s it
